Had a most agreeable time in Manchester last night at the RNCM catching up with the fabulous Russian folk-regenerators Otavo Yo. A wonderful evening, not a face left unsmiling. They're a simmering samovar full of great tunes. Excellent musicians, singers and, yes, entertainers. All delivered with superb musicianship, dry wit, engaging explanations, ensemble singing and dancing and lots of love. Don't miss 'em!

Otava Yo at the Cambridge Junction 2. Traditional Russian songs performed in a really interesting way and a great atmosphere. If you can catch them on tour, definitely do it! I found a flyer for this gig in a chip shop in Bury St Edmunds, and knew I couldn't miss it :)

Went to see Russian folk ensemble Otava yo (Отава ё) yesterday evening and they were fantastic! They bring traditional Russian folk music to their audiences with a 21st century twist. I don't speak Russian, but thoroughly enjoyed the concert, the atmosphere and the music! [...] Did not know what to expect when I arrived, but I left a fan. Here is one of their music videos.
